Set Up Your Account
Sign in, subscribe, and get your MQTT credentials. Drop in some WiFi/MQTT sample code into your device and connect.
Create Your Account
Head to app.ohioiot.com and sign in using Auth0. You can sign in with an email address, Google, or GitHub.
Once you're in, you'll land on the Settings page, which is where the rest of your setup happens.
Say hello
At the top is the Salutation field. Type your first name. As you type, the app greets you at the top of the page — Hi Larry, or whoever you are. That's it.
Your name is stored so the app can address you properly. It's also how we know you're a person and not a device that somehow wandered into Settings.
Activate Your Subscription
Under Subscription Status you'll see unsubscribed and a Sign Up button. Click it — you'll be redirected to Stripe to enter your payment details.
After completing checkout, Stripe sends you back to the Settings page automatically. Your status will now show subscribed in blue. The remaining fields below will unlock.
Set Your MQTT Credentials
This is the last step before your devices can connect. You need an MQTT username and password.
Username
Type a username into the MQTT Username field. You'll get immediate feedback — a green username is available or a red username already taken within half a second. Pick something you'll remember; it's part of your topic paths.
Password
Click Generate New next to the MQTT Password field. A credential will appear. Copy it to your clipboard with the copy button — you can always return to Settings to retrieve it, but it's good practice to store it somewhere safe like a password manager or your project's secrets config.
Save
Hit Save at the bottom of the page. Your MQTT account is now active on the broker.
